It's always struck me as a little sad that West Virginia is still living off a song that came out in 1971. All their tourist materials still say things like "country roads" and "almost heaven." And yet, the truth of it still stands. This place feels heavenly.
I came down here to check out another plot of land that was selling cheap. Sadly, it's right inside the town of Thomas and very steep.
It originally showed up on the real estate website's map all the way out here, south of the tiny hamlet of Douglas. And so, I came down to check out both claims and found nothing out here but a road that's closed to passenger vehicles.
This road does form part of the Allegheny Trail, which I'm hoping to hike this summer.
Douglas is a humble affair--vacation homes and hunting camps mostly.
I wish the lot had been all the way out here. I have bought it in a heartbeat.
